A regional contractor who specialise in new build affordable homes are looking for a Site Manager to complete a 15-month new build apartment project on the Wirral - and there’s a couple of design quirks in the brickwork that are going to keep you interested in this one.

A split site due to a live road running through it (hey, they’d shut it if they could), you’ll be looking at building the units in your standard traditional brick and block with some elements of steel.  However, due to the site being in a conservation area there will be various intricacies with the external brickwork of the one and two bedded apartments available for shared ownership.  And as part of a larger site, if the hat fits and you run this to perfection, there’s the potential for a further 2 years+ in the area as the same firm will be building more social housing units close by.

What they’ll look from you is experience in the social housing sector and a strong Design and Build background. That's because the Director wants you to be proficient with take-offs and requisitions, too, as from his experience he feels it adds to the quality of the site if you're able to fully understand the drawings from Estimation stage to completion.

This ain't going to be the be all and end all of everything on site (it'd be mostly the brick and block and joinery take-offs such as door and window schedules) but you'd be well ahead of the other applicants if this is in your armoury.
